High ping in Marvel Rivals usually comes from a distant server, Wi-Fi spikes, a busy home network or a long route to the game's servers. Team fights send lots of updates at once, so any instability shows up as delayed abilities and missed shots. Use Ethernet, keep the network clear, pick the closest region where the game lets you, and test a ping booster if the route is the problem.
Check your ping first
Turn on the network or performance stats in the game's settings, so ping and packet loss show during matches. Note:
- your normal ping
- whether it spikes during team fights
- any packet loss
Why ping spikes in team fights
Big fights mean many players, abilities and effects at once, so more network updates. A connection that's fine in quiet moments can show spikes when the load rises. It also means low FPS can feel like lag. Check that FPS stays stable during fights.
How to lower ping in Marvel Rivals
1. Pick the closest server region
If the game offers a server or region option, choose the closest one rather than leaving it on automatic. Playing with friends in another region raises ping for someone. Decide whose region you play on.
2. Use Ethernet

3. Clear the network
Pause launcher downloads, cloud backups and streams on other devices while you play.
4. Fix bufferbloat

5. Keep FPS stable
Lower the heaviest effects and shadows, turn on upscaling, and cap FPS at a value your PC can hold during team fights. Stable frames make the game feel much more responsive.
6. Update drivers and restart the router
Update your network and GPU drivers, and restart the router if it has been running for a long time.
