Choose ExitLag if you want control and the strongest protection against packet loss on PC. Choose GearUP if you want the simplest setup, or you play on console or mobile. Both reroute game traffic over their own networks, and both offer free trials. In the end, the right pick is whichever has the better route to your game's servers from your ISP.

How they lower ping
ExitLag sends your game traffic over its own network and can use multipath: the same data travels over several routes at once, and the first copy to arrive wins. That makes it particularly good when your problem is packet loss or spikes.
GearUP uses what it calls adaptive intelligent routing: it keeps measuring available paths and switches automatically to the best one. You don't have to understand routes. Press boost and it decides.
Ease of use
GearUP is the more beginner-friendly of the two. Pick a game, press one button, done.
ExitLag is still easy to start, but it shows more: routes, regions and connection options. Players who like to compare routes will appreciate it. Players who just want it to work may not need it.
Platforms and console support
This is the clearest difference:
- ExitLag is built around PC, with mobile options.
- GearUP covers PC, Android and iOS, and offers console boosting through its router product.
If you play on PS5, Xbox or Switch, GearUP is the more practical choice. See how to lower ping on PS5 and Xbox.
Packet loss and stability
If your main complaint is rubber-banding, teleporting enemies or shots that don't register, packet loss is the likely culprit, and ExitLag's multipath has the edge in principle. If your issue is simply a long route, both can help, and the result depends on which network has the better path to your server.
Pricing
Both are subscriptions with monthly and longer plans; longer plans are cheaper per month. Prices depend on your region and current promotions, so check both checkout pages and apply a code:
How to choose: test both
- Record your normal ping, spikes and packet loss on your main game.
- Use the ExitLag trial for a few sessions on the same server and at the same time of day.
- Then use the GearUP trial the same way. Don't run both at once.
- Keep the one with fewer spikes and less packet loss, not just the lowest best-case ping.
Who should pick which
- Pick ExitLag if you play competitive shooters or MOBAs on PC, have packet loss, or want manual route control.
- Pick GearUP if you're new to boosters, play on console or mobile, or want one-click simplicity.
